Hair Removal Treatment Options

Gentle Laser Hair Removal

Our hair removal laser system is effective and safe for darker skins, including African, Indian and Coloured patients.

This technology involves minimal discomfort, especially when local anaesthetic creams or cooling techniques are used. All our therapists are trained in their effective use to make your treatment as comfortable as possible.
We also offer electrolysis to reduce unwanted unpigmented hair.

Smoother legs without the cost and hassle of shaving.

It is estimated that a woman shaves her legs 11, 500 times during her life. Gentle laser hair removal treatment is faster and more comfortable than standard laser hair removal treatment.

Our patients report 80% hair reduction in only 3 treatments.*

What type of result can I expect to see?

Reduced hair cover in targeted areas.*

* Individual results may vary.

How long does the treatment take?

Depending on the size of the area to be treated, each session can take from 5 – 120 minutes.

How many treatments will I need?

Depending on the patient, between 8 and 12 sessions.

What can I expect following the treatment?

Immediately after treatment, there could be mild redness and swelling at the treatment site.  Swelling may last up to 2 hours, while the redness may last up to 2 – 3 days.

The treated area will feel as though it has been sun-burnt.  Ice packs or a cold press may be applied in 15 – 20 minutes intervals to reduce any discomfort or swelling.  If redness or swelling persists, ice packs can be continued in 15 minutes intervals, 3 – 4 times per day, for 3 days. It is quite normal for small red marks or bumps to be present directly around the treated hairs.

Treated hairs may fall out over a 7 – 21-day period.  As the hair follicle dissipates during this period, it is recommended you use a suitable exfoliating scrub to remove dead hairs (although do not use within 7 days of treatment).  The hair may also appear stunted and will not grow in length as before.  Some “peppering” may be evident for up to 21 days after treatment as the body sheds the dead hair.

Will there be any downtime?

Recovery time

  • There is no downtime and patients can continue with their normal skin care regime.
    • Avoid sun exposure for at least 4 weeks after treatment and use sun block SPF 30 or greater. Apply SPF as a thick layer at least 20 minutes before sun exposure.  Your therapist can recommend the best product.
    • Avoid picking at or scratching the treated skin.
    • Do not use a hair removal products or services (waxing, tweezing etc) that will disturb the hair follicle in the treated area.
    • Wash the treated area and pat dry for 3 days after treatment. Do not scrub.
    • For 2 – 3 weeks after treatment, ideally avoid shaving the treated area.
    • Moisturisers and other skin care products (dye- and fragrance-free) are recommended after laser treatment. If underarms are treated, ideally use powder deodorant for 24 hours after treatment to reduce skin irritation.  Moisturise the treated area at least 4 times per day.
    • There are no restrictions on bathing except to treat the skin gently, as if you had sunburn, for the first 24 hours.
    • No facials/exfoliation, microdermabrasion or any form of chemical peel within 3 – 4 weeks prior to treatment and thereafter.
    • No masks 2 weeks before and after treatment.
    • We will explain and advise as to which products and treatments to avoid for 2 weeks following the procedure.
    • No medication which thins the skin or makes it more sensitive to sun.
    • Make-up may be applied 24 hours after treatment as long as there is no inflammation, irritation or severe redness of the treated area. If scabbing or crusting occurs, no make-up should be applied until these have cleared.
    • Do not exercise for a few hours after treatment, since perspiration may aggravate the treated area.
